A closer working relationship

Learning from each other

At the suggestion of Roger Holmes, Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and the Hereford and Gloucester Canal Trust (H&G) the Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT) has agreed that, from time to time, there should be joint meetings which would enable us to learn from each other and possibly make financial savings by jointly purchasing services such as training for volunteers.

Property portfolio plans revealed

The inaugural meeting was held on 12th November at Fromebridge Mill. It proved hugely popular with over 80 attending. Dick Skeet from the H&G gave a very interesting and witty talk on the progress of that restoration a feature of which is a decision to build up a property portfolio to generate an income stream so that restored lengths of the canal can be maintained.

Cheque presentation

The meeting concluded by Roger Holmes presenting cheques for £375 to Jack Telling and Maggie Jones (H&G) with a request that the donation to CCT be allocated to the Bowbridge Lock Appeal. Roger explained that the donations represented the proceeds from the hard work of IWA members at the Gloucester Dock Tall Ships Gathering.

Next meeting at Much Marcle

The next joint meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 21st January at the Royal Oak, Much Marcle, Ledbury HR8 2ND – 7.30pm for 8pm.

Martin Turner (CCT) will be the speaker. Support from CCT members would be appreciated.
