Canal Trips at Easter
Cotswold Canals Trust Boat Trips start at Saul Easter Sunday with an 'Eggstra Special' treat – free Easter eggs for younger passengers on both days!
Two boats, Perseverance & Endeavour will operate together at Saul on Sunday and Monday. This will give everyone an opportunity to view the new boat Endeavour before it is taken to Ebley in April.
With two boats now under his management Western Trip Boat Manager Rob Burgon has been busy organising refresher training and new crew Induction Sessions for the crews of Perseverance & Endeavour.
Certificated Training for the crews
Cotswold Canals Trust Trip boats function under a nationally recognised Training & Operational Procedures system known as The Inland Waterways Certificate of Boat Management.
Training is specific to the vessel and the route it is used on. Professional training and assessment is carried out by Andrew Phasey of Mainline Solutions – Boat Handling.
Click here, or on the classroom picture right, to find out more about Andrew's range of 'Solutions'.
Practice makes perfect
The syllabus includes classroom input on first aid, the effects on the body of immersion in deep cold water together with why and how to wear life jackets.
Candidates are given practical experience of fire extinguishers as well as the use of ropes & rescue equipment. Passenger Safety address and emergency evacuation procedures are discussed and practiced.
This preparation and training is aimed at safe and enjoyable trips on The Gloucester- Sharpness Canal from Saul Junction and Stroudwater Navigation from Ebley.
Private Party Charter Bookings
You would be well advised to book soon for any Private Party Charters on board Perseverance.
Call the Charters Booking team Justine & Sarah pictured right. They will discuss with you a choice of Picnic Cruises, Pirate Parties Lunch Cruises and Gloucester Quays shopping days out.
Perseverance cruises can also be incorporated into a 'Talk & Cruise Package' from the Visitor Centre at Saul Junction. These sessions are tailored for groups keen to learn about the history… and future of the local waterways.
Endeavour at Ebley
Endeavour is bound for The Stroudwater Navigation. The boat will operate similar trips and private party charters from the wharf at Ebley Mill. Keep an eye out for details to be announced later in the year.
