Cruising the Cotswold Canals

A Tug along Stroudwater

A sunny September Sunday recently saw the CCT's Tug Goliath out on the water.

Skipper Tony Jones took our camera team for a cruise along the navigable section of the restoration from Dudbridge to The Ocean at Stonehouse.

Other navigators encountered included a couple of canoeists and a family of swans.

The swans can be seen leading the tug through Ebley in what can only be described as a 'stately fashion'.

David Jowett commented… "I was fortunate enough to travel the navigable section of canal during "Stroud on Water" and realised that many others were not so lucky.

"I knew that Tony Jones and crew were doing an excellent job by taking the CCT's tug Goliath up and down the Stroudwater to maintain the channel so I managed to join them one Sunday to film the whole length.

"I knew that this would enable computer users to experience the trip. My digital camera is quite cheap and the film function is secondary but I'm quite pleased with these first efforts. However, I would be especially pleased if someone with better equipment and skill could make a better job of it."
