BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS

The following is an extract from an email sent to the County Councillors and Local Parish clerks by Gloucestershire Highways:

"We have arranged a public exhibition on Tuesday 22nd April from 4pm till 8pm at the Subscription Rooms to promote the proposed Merrywalks canal bridge project.

This will be a good opportunity for the public to view the current proposals with the following plans and information on display:

– The overall design and layout of the proposed bridge
– A selection of options for the bridge facade
– The traffic management options and diversion routes being considered for the construction phase
– The project programme
– Environmental studies
– Archive photos and plans of the canal
– Feedback forms

In addition to the plans a number of engineers from the design team will be available at the exhibition to answer queries and to take on board the public's general thoughts and views of the project.

To publicise the event a press release has been issued and a number of posters will be on display on site at the Merrywalks junction and within the Parish and District Council offices.

Should you have any comments or queries regarding the exhibition or the bridge project then please do not hesitate to contact me."

The email came from Haydn Collier who is Team Leader for the Highways Major Improvement Schemes, his email address is haydn.collier@gloucestershire.gov.uk
& telephone 01452 583403.

I have raised the question of just the one date & 4-hour display time with Haydn. He tells me that there are no plans to hold the exhibition either elsewhere or for more than the planned 4 hours on the one afternoon, but any interested parties who can't attend will be more than welcome to visit Glos Highways who will personally go through the plans with them. In due course I hope that we shall be able to have something up on the CCT website about all this. The first priority, however, is to get this information out to you………….
