ENews 2008-15

21st May 2008

Good afternoon and welcome to ENews 2008-15.

The objective of ENews is to advise, inform and update. And maybe even to amuse from time to time.

Please feel free to email postmaster@cctmembers-newsletter.co.uk with any newsworthy items you would like to be considered for inclusion.

All and any feedback is more than welcome.

Still no newsworthy items to report relating to restoration matters…..except to say that the towpath between Ryeford & Ebley has been reopened following "completion" of the project at Oil Mills.

D-DAY ON D-DAY

Stroud District Council is meeting on Thursday June 5th at Ebley Mill, 7:00pm, to discuss turning the dream of canal restoration into a reality.

There is a background article summarising the Council's position available to view at (time expired link removed). The article makes mention of a review undertaken by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council. This is also available online at (time expired link removed)

If you wish to view the proceedings on the day then you will have two options, namely go along and listen in the Public Gallery or watch a live web cast at http://www.stroud.gov.uk/webcast

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome……

Or…

Road Show Volunteers Please!

Over the weekend of the 31st May/1st June we shall be in Gloucester Docks – not literally I hope – at the Gloucester Antiques & Collectables Fair and we could really do with some help.

You could have a chance of appearing as a background extra on TV – the Message Board on the Connect website Activities page has all the details!

CCT stalwart Susie Bayliss is co-ordinating this one, she can be contacted on 01452 383133. Please give her a ring if you possibly can.

Or…

Trip Boat Volunteers Please!

Every weekend between now and Late September, with some other dates thrown in, our 2 trip boats 'Perseverance' and 'Inglesham' will be running at Saul & Lechlade respectively.

Unfortunately they have not yet been designed to crew themselves which means that Dennis Clarke at Saul and Ron Read at Lechlade spend quite a while cajoling the rest of us to lend a hand where we can.

If you are already a trained crew member and have some time available, or indeed if you would like to become involved with either trip boat operation then Dennis – ddclarke@btinternet.com – or Ron – ron.read@btinternet.com – would dearly like to hear from you!

BW FISHING FOR £1M – IS THIS WHY?

RIVAL PUBLICATION

I am not sure how many of you subscribe to BW's Boater's Update newsletter, I would recommend you to the May issue at http://www.waterscape.com/features-and-articles/features/boaters-update/boaters-update-may-2008

From this you will see that Mr Evans is going on a nationwide tour to meet his public. Follow the links to see where the nearest meeting to you is; there is one in Gloucester on the 13th June for example.
