SANTA'S ARRIVED………

We are indeed fortunate that Santa has managed once again to fit his annual visit to Saul Junction into his undoubtedly busy schedule. He touched down on Saturday 5th December – lucky to land safely in the inclement weather – and will be with us every weekend until the 20th.

Cruises start each operating day at 10:00 with the final one of the day setting off around 15:30. All tickets are £5; this price includes a mince pie & hot drink for the adults and a present for the children.

More information – including directions – can be found at http://goo.gl/Wqg7VV

CANALSIDE CONCERT AND CAROLS

A concert in aid of the restoration of the Stroudwater Navigation is being held at St Cyr's Church Stonehouse on Saturday 12th December. This musical extravaganza of songs and carols features Andrew Hopwood (Baritone), Julian Elloway (Piano & Organ) and the Cotswold Canals Singers.

The performance starts at 19:30 and refreshments will be available.

There's a most attractive poster providing further information that can also be found at http://goo.gl/Wqg7VV

Tickets are £10 each and are available from the Trust's Wallbridge Office, telephone 01453 752568, or by calling in to Wallbridge Visitor Centre at Bell House, Wynns Coffee Shop in Stonehouse High Street or Made in Stroud in Kendrick Street, Stroud.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

There are some good-looking Christmas Cards available this year, together with a great calendar featuring canal side scenes from the whole 36 mile route, photographed by CCT member Gary Canning.

These items together with a wide selection of books and maps, are available from the Trust's online shop at http://goo.gl/LPj0Qa

STERLING WORK

I'm talking about the Trust's application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for some £15million of funding towards the cost of Phase 1B of the restoration, the stretch between the Ocean, Stonehouse and Saul Junction on the Gloucester – Sharpness Canal.

Here's another link for you, this one will take you to the story behind the 'sterling' efforts of Val Kerby and her team to get the bid despatched within the timescale specified: http://goo.gl/Z04RQU

Roll on April 2016 – keep those fingers crossed!
