Hello, & welcome to E-News No. 27
DUDBRIDGE DEFOLIATION WORK PARTY 3rd/4th FEBRUARY
The work will involve cutting down small trees, clearing vegetation and chipping tree waste on both sides of the canal as we have been granted access to Marling School Playing Fields.
To get an idea of where the site is, try putting Homebase Stroud's postcode of GL5 4EX into GoogleMaps http://www.maps.google.co.uk/maps to give you an overview of the area. You're aiming forChestnut Lane, to the left of Homebase; down the lane, over Gasworks Bridge at the bottom and follow the road round to the right. You will join the towpath for a few metres or so and the field for parking is on the left. Meet in this field around 9am, anticipated finish time around 4pm on both days. The welfare unit will be based here.
Please advise Richard Harrison Richard.firstname.lastname@example.org or 01452 318501 if you prefer – if you anticipate being available.
Steel toe capped boots/shoes are a must, as usual. There should be some available to borrow – note the word borrow! – for the day, and other safety wear will be provided as appropriate.
Should be a good one with the potential to generate lots of local interest.
CALLING ALL CRICK COLLEAGUES!
Have you volunteered to help at the Crick Show over the weekend of the 26th/28th May? Have you made arrangements to get hold of your concessionary passes? If not then contact Roadshow Manager Mike Slade ASAP email@example.com – as he has to get the paperwork in by SATURDAY 10TH FEBRUARY at the latest.
IS WHITE VAN MAN OUT THERE? [SORRY, THAT SHOULD BE PERSON THESE DAYS…]
Has anybody got an underused Transit van or similar? Every so often we encounter a little local difficulty tracking down a suitable vehicle to get the Roadshow marquee, stock etc to its destination.
So it occurs to me that we may just have amongst the readership:-
– Man plus van at a loose end on certain weekends throughout the year
– Man plus van who would happily lend to CCT on certain weekends
– Man plus van to dispose of that's in good nick and needs a new home
– Man plus any vehicle with towbar at a loose end on certain weekends
If you could fit the bill, then Mike Slade is your man again for further details firstname.lastname@example.org
"FIND US A FESTIVAL FIREFIGHTER" THEY SAID…
…So here goes.
Is there a retired Fire Officer amongst you who would like to join the Saul Canal Festival Management Team as the SCF FSO?
You will be expected to liaise with the Trust's Health & Safety Officer in drawing up an overall fire safety plan to encompass the whole Festival. Hopefully you will then be able to source and supply the appropriate equipment identified in the agreed plan – but within a previously agreed budget! Oh, the noble art of compromise.
For further details please contact the Festival Director Clive Field email@example.com
