Lodgemore Lift Bridge Update No. 2

Lift Bridge Update

Work on the installation of the new Lodgemore Lift Bridge is progressing well. All evidence of the old bridge is now gone from the site, though its 8 ton weight limit signpost still lies somewhat forlornly on the tow path.

Piling rig in action

Contract Manager Ian Barfoot reports that a piling rig is now on site and has commenced the process of drilling a series eight metre deep holes to create the concrete piled base for the new bridge.

Ian explains, "The holes will be fitted with steel reinforcing bars before concrete is poured. The piling will be installed on both sides of the canal."

Fingers crossed for fine weather

Stroud District Council Canals Restoration Manager Dave Marshall commented, "It is good to see the work running to schedule. This is important at this time of year so lets keep our finger crossed for the weather to be kind."
