Merrywalks Bridge Bulletin No. 37

Merrywalks Bridge Update from Nigel Edgeworth

This week has seen the placement of steel and shuttering for the bridge deck nearing completion. We anticipate pouring 160 cubic metres of concrete to form the bridge deck next week.

This will be a major step forward in the construction of the bridge.

Work has also continued on fixing steel and shuttering to both the northeast and northwest wing walls with 50% of the concrete in place for the latter. See below.

British Telecom are still on site and constructing chambers in readiness to divert the fibre optic cables.

Two chambers are being constructed. The chamber on the north of the bridge is nearing completion.

Excavation for the south side chamber commenced on Tuesday.
