Merrywalks Bridge Bulletin No. 48

A report from Nigel Edgeworth

With the sheet piles now removed the site has been opened up and there is plenty of activity going on at various locations within the site.

Brick laying has been on-going on both the northwest and northeast wing walls, both northern abutment walls and the Slad Brook headwall. Top Picture

Shuttering is being put in place on the southwest and southeast wing walls ready for a concrete pour after the return from the break. Picture below left.

Steel is being put in place to construct the remaining pilasters. The concrete slab for the towpath has been completed. Picture below right.

An area to the northeast of the site has been cleared and a foundation has been dug for a new wall.

Whilst working in this area an unopened bottle of Stroud Brewery beer was uncovered!

Holidays

Due to the number of bank holidays occurring in a short period of time the site will shut down until 3rd May.

The next bulletin will be issued on 6th May.
