A report from Nigel Edgeworth
Construction work carried out during the past week includes kerb laying, landscaping, installation of lighting columns, stone walling, sign posts and pedestrian barriers.
Work is nearing completion on the area of public space to the northeast of the site, with the construction of paths and laying of topsoil. Bricklaying continues on the south wing walls.
British Telecom staff will be jointing fibre optic cables between 6:00 pm on Saturday night through to 2:00 am on Sunday morning.
The timing of this operation is intended to minimise disruption to traffic not vehicular traffic but electronic communications traffic!
The contractor is developing traffic management plans for the surfacing works.
This will include the existing carriageway.
Surfacing the existing highway will inevitably disrupt traffic. Careful timing of these works will keep such disruption to a minimum.
We are nearing the end of the works, which should be mid-June. Whilst we do not have a definitive date it will be announced as soon as it is available.
