Member of Parliament holds 'Surgery' afloat
The Trust’s trip boat Perseverance has had a very busy year for charters.
Stroud MP Neil Carmichael booked the boat on Thursday 4th October for a ‘surgery’ with local business people.
The group included representatives of the Festival of Engineering, canal corridor companies and local officers of The Canal & River Trust.
Neil Carmichael commented…
“This has been a fantastic surgery involving local business people from different backgrounds who share a common interest in canals.”
Perseverance was steered by Jill Field. Cabin crewmember Clive Field commented,
“It was an unusual charter job on a glorious early autumn day.
"The group clearly enjoyed the gentle journey to The Pilot Inn at Hardwicke where they took a comfort and refreshment stop.
"The cabin was alive with the buzz of conversation and consultation throughout the four hour trip."
An ideal venue
Charters Manager Paul Roberts commented…
“We run charters trips throughout the year. Perseverance is a perfect floating venue for all sorts of group outings.
"These include the popular lunch cruises to Slimbridge. We have also had 'Pirate' themed children's birthday parties and shopping trips to Gloucester.
"There have been over sixty charters so far this year and the bookings are stiil coming in.
"I have just had another well-known customer make firm reservations for the first four weekends in December.
"A Mr Santa Claus will be running cruises on Saturdays & Sundays at Saul Junction!"
