Photo Exhibition at Wallbridge

Hidden Treasures in Plain View

Local photographer Ian Birchall is now exhibiting his atmospheric collection of waterways photographs taken in and around Gloucestershire. All exhibits are available to purchase.

How this came about

Ian explains his background and the exhibition's title…

Photography has taken me to many parts of the world.

My work has allowed me to catalogue everyday life in the African subcontinent to capture life at its most raw.

I was in East Berlin shortly after
communism fell along with the wall, then the Ukraine and Croatia in the early 1990s as the hostilities were settling down.

I also travelled to China where I tried to capture the tranquillity and diversity of the Chinese culture.

One hundred & fifty weddings!

Back in the UK I settled into the world of wedding photography.

After covering over 150 weddings I felt that my photography was being restrained by the wedding photo genre… I felt that my creativity had stagnated and that I was losing the enjoyment and excitement I once had.

Hidden treasures revealed

And now, after many hours absorbing the scenery and atmosphere of the inland waterways while cruising on my boat, I have been inspired to pick up my camera to record and reveal the hidden treasures that I have found to be in plain view on the waterways in and around Gloucestershire

Hidden Treasures in Plain View will be on display until mid January.

You may find some seasonal gift ideas amongst Ian's collection!
