New exhibition at Wallbridge Visitor Centre
Alison Lusty & David McGovern (pictured below) are keen Cotswold Canals Trust volunteers who live close to the Stroudwater Navigation. The couple are also the founders of ‘Ebley Images’.
It is under this banner that they have recently installed an exhibition of their photographs entitled ‘Reflections on our Heritage’ in the gallery at the Cotswold Canals Trust Visitor Centre at Wallbridge Lock in Stroud.
A shared passion
Alison and David share a passion for the restoration of the canals through Stroud and are frequently seen out and about on the towpath taking photographs.
You would have to be up & about early in the morning to catch them with their cameras. Early morning, misty sunlight features in a number of the framed photos now on display.
It is often said that ‘effective framing of a well-chosen image is an important part of the art’.
In line with the green culture of Stroud, the wooden frames that feature in ‘Reflections on our Heritage’ are largely recycled.
Alison explains… “I particularly enjoy restoring the wooden frames. This allows the production of a wide range of designs and some interesting combinations of prints and mounts”.
A similar care for detail is evident in David’s additional role as printer and framer.
Gifts & Greeting Cards
The Wallbridge exhibition also includes a selection of Alison’s handmade canal themed greeting cards and a novel new stock item featuring ‘Ebley Images’ photographs.
David explains… We have made sure the inch measurements are uppermost on the rulers… after all, both the exhibition and the restoration are celebrating Heritage!”
