Commitments to ‘Bridal Boating’
Perseverance is becoming a favourite for weddings on Saturdays at St Cyrs Church and The Stonehouse Court Hotel.
Public trips are therefore not available when Perseverance is booked for the bridal party. Such Saturday dates will be detailed on this page.
On wedding days an ‘A’ Board explaining that Perseverance is away on a Wedding Charter will be positioned close to the swing bridge.

Free parking, for the duration of your trip, is available in Ebley Mill Visitors car park.
Drive over Cloth Mills Bridge. Enter the barrier controlled car park on the right.
You will be given the exit code when you purchase your boat trip ticket.
No need to book – Just turn up and have fun!
Private Party Charters on Perseverance
Sunday to Friday throughout the year — £40 an hour — For groups of up to twelve people
Minimum 2 hours charter

The trip boat Perseverance is licensed to carry twelve passengers. It is fitted with a picnic table and toilet compartment. The boat and crew can be chartered throughout the year for periods of two, three, four or more hours. Reunions, birthday parties, picnics & pirate adventures are so much better on a boat!
Cruise One — Three Hours — £120
Ebley — Ryeford Double Lock — Stonehouse Court — Return to Ebley
Depart Ebley Mill Wharf and cruise west through Ryeford Double Lock. Then cruise on through the Ryeford Pedestrian Swing Bridge, through the hamlet of Ryeford and under the old skew railway bridge. Continuing to cruise in a westerly direction you will next pass through Upper Mills Bridge and on under Bridgend Bridge to pass Stonehouse wharf on the right.
Next you will pass through the interesting Nutshell Bridge before the picturesque St Cyrs Church comes into view on the right hand bank.As the boat turns at Ocean Bridge there is an opportunity to take photographs featuring the popular view of
St Cyrs Church.
We then return to, and ascend Ryeford Double Lock, to carry on eastward to Ebley.
Subject to available time and prevailing navigation conditions an extension to this route may be possible,
before returning to disembark at Ebley Wharf.
Cruise One — Upgraded — Four Hours (or longer)
Lunch or Afternoon Tea at Stonehouse Court Hotel
When we take your cruise booking we contact The Stonehouse Court Hotel to reserve the table for your group.
Lunch menu is available from 12pm – 2pm, offering a bistro menu and light bites.
Afternoon Tea can be taken in the lounge or on the garden terrace between 12pm & 5pm, 7 days a week.
You will be required to call the hotel catering manager on 01453 794 950 in advance
to select your lunch or afternoon tea order.
Cruise Two — Two hours — £80
A leisurely cruise from Ebley with a choice of two directions
a) In a westerly direction through Ryeford Double Lock and swing bridge
then turn after Ryeford Wharf. or
b) In an easterly direction through Hilly Orchard Bridge, ascend Dudbridge Locks and return.Each route provides its own interest.
Make it a Picnic Cruise
You could enhance cruises 1 & 2 by bringing along your own picnic.
Alternatively, M + G Catering will prepare a bespoke pic-nic and deliver it to Ebley Wharf

The closeness of the historic Stonehouse Court Hotel to St Cyrs Church makes Stonehouse a unique canal-side venue for spiritual & celebratory events.
The hotel is well known for organising impressive weddings. Ceremonies take place at the hotel or at St. Cyrs Church.
The site now has its own boat landing stage and brides have already arrived by boat.That ‘special day’ could be made even more memorable.
The bride could arrive on board the narrowboat Perseverance and the happy couple could cruise away on the same boat to begin their life together.
The Stonehouse Court Hotel events team will help with the organisation of weddings,
