Canal Project Manager to leave

Stroud District Council’s Canal Project Manager, Paul Coupe, has decided to leave work at the end of April for personal and family reasons.

Cllr Keith Pearson, Deputy Leader for Stroud District Council and Cabinet Member with lead responsibility for the canal project, said: "I am sad that Paul has taken this decision, but family has to come first.

He will be sorely missed. In the two years that he has been managing the canal team, progress on the restoration of the canals has come along in leaps and bounds, and this has been recognised by those taking an active interest in the project.

I wish him the very best for the future and look forward to keeping in touch with him on developments."

David Hagg, Chief Executive, said: "Paul has done a great job in bringing the project this far. His engineering skill has been invaluable and we can all see the tremendous progress made on the ground.

He is leaving for personal and family reasons but has kindly agreed to be available to us on a very limited consultancy basis. Interim management arrangements are in place and the project is moving ahead. I wish him and his family well for the future."

Paul Coupe will leave on 30th April.

As an interim measure, lead canal team members Paul Caine and Dave Marshall will take on additional responsibilities.
