CCT Volunteers Conference

Volunteers Conference – Two Dates announced

Volunteering will be a key aspect of restoring the canal from Saul Junction to Stonehouse. This section is known as Phase 1B.

The Phase 1B Group has announced two conference dates to explore the role of volunteers and volunteering in the next phase of restoring the Cotswold Canals.

Two conference dates

The first conference will be a midweek event on Wednesday 15th October.

The conference will be repeated on Saturday 1st November. This will enable contributions from people unable to attend on a weekday.

The need for a volunteers conference

Cotswold Canals Trust Phase 1 Lottery Bid Project Leader Dr Val Kirby, pictured right, explains…

"We want to use this opportunity to enthuse people about this exciting project, and to help us answer six questions…

  1. Why do we need volunteers to help in Phase 1B?

  2. How can we demonstrate these needs to the Heritage Lottery Fund?

  3. How can we build a bigger, more effective volunteer programme into Phase 1B?

  4. What should be in the CCT's 'Volunteering Policy'? (The Heritage Lottery Fund requires us to have one)

  5. What lessons can we learn from Phase 1A, that should influence what volunteers do in Phase 1B?

  6. How can we improve the links between volunteering and education/training?"
