ENews 2008-22

Saturday 19th July, 19:45

Good evening & welcome to 2008-22, just a quickie this time round:

Following last Thursday's discussions on the question of whether or not Cotswold District Council should withdraw from the Partnership I am delighted to publish the following extract from a Councillor's email to one of his constituents:

"We debated the issue earlier today and the minutes will be available after the call in period and will be approved at the next Cabinet meeting in August…….it was agreed we would continue with our 2 member representatives who would be provided with appropriate officer support. Our member representatives will then report in on a quarterly basis to John Birch as the Portfolio Holder responsible."

What reassuring news, another reason to be cheerful!

Trust member David Hunt is also a member of a local group of artists known as the Portway Group. They are holding an exhibition at the Town Hall Painswick, commencing Friday August 8th which will include samples of David's work.

David has taken the opportunity to capture watercolour images of the canal in its derelict state before the restoration commences. He has offered the proceeds of sale of one of his works to the restoration fund.

The watercolour in question is of the canal at St Cyrs Church, Stonehouse and an image of it appears at

The exhibition will be open daily between 10am and 5.30pm until Wednesday August 13th. Admission is free and all paintings will be for sale.

There are various pictures from Saul Festival appearing on our websites.

Some can be found on the Connect Volunteers' website, see link above, and others on the Festival website, and click onto the "2008 Photo Gallery" tab.

And that's it; told you it was short!
