June 26, 2009
Hello and welcome to ENews 2009-10.
Just the one specific item this time round; can you help at all?
I SEE AN OPPORTUNITY
The following request has been received from Jon Pontefract, the Eisey Lock Project Manager
"The original top sill of Eisey Lock was mainly of timber and rotted away years ago. As part of the restoration of the lock, we propose to cast a new concrete one in its place.
(Editor's note – there's a picture showing part of the area involved in the Connect website Photo Gallery – http://www.cct.teamconnect.org.uk/display_photo_gallery.php)
"In the old days, we probably would have just whacked in some shuttering, some steel reinforcement and just poured a new sill. However, we want to do the job properly and need someone to design a top sill for us which will incorporate a re-laid stone area upstream of the "V".
"There is a 2 week work camp at Eisey starting on 11th July and it would be good to have a design by then. Please contact Jon Pontefract by email email@example.com or phone 07986 351412 if you can help and to arrange a site visit."
