LOG A RHYTHM
It's plane to see the elders amongst us are getting into the swing of selling logs now. When we branched into this (with me at the elm) yew were told all about it in ENews 2009-19. It has taken root and appears to be very poplar. It's good to cedar money being generated, and perhaps this piece maple in some fir-ther orders. If it's oak eh with yew, this old chestnut is now coned off.
To summarise: we are offering free delivery within a 15-mile radius for either a minimum order of 5 nets that each weigh approx 15Kg when dry, around 20Kg at delivery for £25, or 2 different and good sized trailer loads at £47.50 & £95.00 respectively.
Stroud District Council has three Canal related jobs on offer at the moment, namely Contracts Manager, Development Surveyor and Senior Contaminated Land Officer (Maternity Cover). If you are interested you'll need to get your skates on as applications for the first two close on 4th January 2010, the other one on the 7th
To find out more about the Contracts Manager role go to SDC website page http://www.stroud.gov.uk/docs/vacancies.asp?vid=725,
for the role of Development Surveyor http://www.stroud.gov.uk/docs/vacancies.asp?did=vacancies&vid=726
and for the Maternity Cover one http://www.stroud.gov.uk/docs/vacancies.asp?did=vacancies&vid=727
The Minutes of the 'Special Development Control Committee' Meeting that approved the Upper Mills Bridge planning application can be viewed at http://www.stroud.gov.uk/info/members/cms_documentation/23_November_2009.pdf
THAT'S THE TICKET
Mention was made in ENews 2009-19 of the Barn Dance being held on Saturday 27th March, organised by that doyen of the do-si-do, Anna Watts.
Anna tells me that the tickets are now available from her or from the Heritage Centre, Saul. Telephone Anna on 07800 581167 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for yours.
ROUND THE HOUSES
If you've got a couple of bob to spare you may like to know that Chalford Roundhouse is currently on the market – for a cool £290,000. Agents Rightmove have the property on their books – www.rightmove.co.uk
(If you find it then have a look at the link; you will understand why it was not reproduced here because it must win a prize for the longest one ever seen!)
SPENT THE POUNDS? NOW LOSE SOME
Richard Attwood is arranging a "Work Off that Christmas Pud" Work Party for Wednesday December 30th.
Details will be published on the Connect website once they are finalised.
YULE BE SORRY
If you miss this year's programme of our ever popular Santa Cruises on board 'Perseverance'. A short season this year, but it has been blessed with pretty good weather so far, and lots of happy smiley children as a result.
Santa's last visit to Saul this year is next Saturday and Sunday (20th & 21st), the final trip will be around 3:30pm on Sunday. So don't disappoint the children and grandchildren – cruises start around 10:00am on both days and the fare is only £4 with all the kiddies on board getting a present from the Big Red Man and all the Mums and Dads a mince pie and hot drink of their choice.
