Hello, and welcome to this special edition of ENews that is looking for your help in just a couple of days' time.
You may remember that a few years ago – November 2007 to be precise – the Waterways Trust received £80,000 from the Peoples Millions Big Lottery Fund towards the restoration of Brimscombe Port Walls.
Well it is that time again and this year they applied for £60,000 of funding to help with towpath improvements and a podcast heritage trail along the canal.
They were only recently notified that the application has made the shortlist and that ITV are coming to film on Wednesday 8th June. The (so far unconfirmed) date for screening on ITV West local news is 29th June.
Filming will take place at the Ocean, behind Stonehouse Court Hotel from 12:30 approx. CCT volunteers "wearing the green" and as many interested parties as possible – for example parents with buggies, dog walkers, anglers, joggers, cyclists and wildlife watchers – are being sought to indicate the level of support for the restoration that there is from as diverse a range of people as possible.
Be aware that there is next to no parking available at the site so it will be necessary to either park elsewhere and walk along the canal – or get that bike out!
If you have any questions or queries then Kim Chester from the Waterways Trust is the person to contact on 07917 616903.
