Exhibition of Art at Wallbridge

The Peter Westley Canals Collection

A new exhibition of art is now on display at the Wallbridge Lock Visitor Centre.

The exhibition will run until the end of November.

Peter’s style and presentation is certainly impactive.

All exhibits are available to purchase.

So impressive are they that two paintings were labelled up as SOLD even while The Canals Collection was being hung!

Peter is pictured right as he completed the display.

Peter Westley lives in Eastcombe and is a self-taught artist who takes delight in making studies of the Cotswolds.

He explained… “I particularly enjoy canal side scenes and structures.”

“Since I retired I have had the time to apply myself to what was really just a hobby. I have always drawn caricatures of colleagues and family members.”

With something of a twinkle in his eye Peter went on to say…

“Shall we say that cartoons and caricatures allowed me to exercise a degree of humour at the expense of friends and relatives. I didn’t get into that much trouble with those close to me.”

Peter’s pictures of canal side buildings are not all concentrated on the Cotswolds.

A visit to Venice is recorded in brilliant acrylic colours.

Asked to explain the vastly different styles on display he explained, “I like to experiment with colour and particularly like the depth of colours available when using acrylics, having said that the pencil and wash pubs & round houses have been great fun too.”
