Log Auction Winner’s Delivery
The Western Depot Log Delivery Service swung into action on Monday when the recently held auction prize of a 100 cubic foot load of pristine ash was delivered to the successful bidder, John Stephen of Bisley.
An ash tree was generously donated to the Trust by a Trust member in Minchinhampton.
Once the tree had been felled by a specialist contractor the Team moved in on a filthy wet and windy day last November to clear the garden.
Ash wood is highly prized by log burners so the load of premium grade logs was put up for auction.
The ash was moved to Eastington where it was cut then split into logs to await delivery to the eventual winner.
Pictured right are the delivery team led, by ‘The Logman’ David Pagett beside the empty trailer after its contents had been unloaded into John’s garage.

John’s winning auction bid was received at 12:00 precisely on the 3rd February – bang on the closing date and time – whilst he was walking along the Grand Union Canal!
How you can help the restoration
If you live within a reasonable distance of Stroud and have a fallen tree that you would like to donate to the Trust email David at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01452 505 322.
|He will be delighted to discuss this further and arrange a site visit. Whilst he can usually offer free removal of the trunk and main branches he has no facilities to dispose of the brash. By the same token safe and secure access to the fallen tree is always a prime consideration.|
