Merrywalks Bridge Bulletin No. 53

A report from Nigel Edgeworth

This week has seen further road works carried out on the bridge deck as well as bricklaying to the pilasters. We have commenced construction of gabion baskets at the outfall of Slad Brook.

Gabion baskets are being provided here to slow down the flow in order to prevent scouring of the canal bed when high water flows discharge from the brook.

These works will continue next week.

Temporary Traffic Management Plan

On Monday traffic management will be put in place to enable kerb laying to tie into the existing kerbs for the northern part of the works.

Traffic signals will be in operation on Cainscross Road throughout Monday.

In order to minimise traffic delays this work will not start until after 9:15 am.

The signals will be removed by 4:00 pm.

The signals will be operated manually to prevent backing up of traffic towards the town centre.

Nevertheless, delays are likely to be experienced along Cainscross Road.

Try to avoid the area during these times if you can. And don’t forget… you can check the traffic flows by clicking on Wallbridge Webcam Live!

It is expected that the traffic signals will be reinstated again on Thursday and Friday in order to carryout surfacing works.
