Merrywalks Bridge Bulletin No.35

Merrywalks Bridge Update from Nigel Edgeworth

Work has continued on placing the formwork in order to cast the bridge deck.

Next week reinforcing steel will be put in place. It is expected that this will take about a week to complete with a concrete pour taking place the week after.

Concrete has now been placed below the exposed section of the Slad Brook corrugated steel culvert to give it a good support in the finished scheme.

The reinforcing steel to construct a capping beam on the northwest wing wall has now been completed.

The construction of the British Telecom chamber to the north of the bridge is still ongoing. As can be seen in the photograph, left, this is quite a sizable structure. This is being prepared in readiness to divert fibre optic cables.
