Wooden spooners win a windlass
At the other end of the scale there was an equally close fought contest for the last place ‘wooden spoon’ – (in fact a miniature brass windlass). 'The Wild Indians' and 'Hydroquad2' each scored 52 points. This last place deadlock was broken by the drawing of lots; the result of which saw 'Hydroquad2' receive the miniature windlass.
Praise for planners & participants
Thanks are due to CCT Director Polly Fothergill who, as well as researching & compiling the questions, also commissioned the design and production of the Winner’s Trophy and certificates.
The trophy, designed by Trust member Sarah Riley, incorporated a bronze replica of a Thames & Severn Canal Token elegantly mounted on a polished wood plinth produced by Neil Fothergill.
Conclusions
The Quiz concluded with the presentation of the Trophy and Certificates after which it was generally agreed that the whole occasion was a success and that a CCT Quiz Night could well become an annual event. So keep a note of what you learn along the waterways!
