Sunday drop-in volunteering

From Saturday 1st June  is Volunteers Week – so what better time to try volunteering for the canal project?

We have a towpath “drop-in” work party on Sunday 2nd June at Bond’s Mill near Eastington from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Spend anything from half an hour to the whole day. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary and there will be free cake!

Pop along for as long as you like and help restore the canal with us!

Meet outside Bond’s Mill Gatehouse, Bond’s Mill Business Estate, Bristol Road, Stonehouse, GL10 3RF. Park adjacent to the building.

These are informal volunteering sessions focusing on vegetation management and towpath repairs/construction in the Stonehouse area. Just turn up, no experience is necessary. Spend anything from half an hour to the whole day.

On the day, dress for the weather and wear sturdy boots or shoes, steel toe-capped if you have them. Please bring a drink and something to eat.

Contact: Ian Moody via email ian.moody@stroud.gov.uk  or call 07902 207658. If you would like to join in but need additional support please let me know.

If you like to see some reports on what we get up to please have a look at our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

There are many other opportunities including our Western and Eastern depots, maintenance teams, work boats, trip boats, staffing the visitor centres and bookshop, helping the fundraising team, providing admin support and many other things. Pop into the Wallbridge visitor centre for more details.
